The green juice and green smoothie debate… what’s the difference ? Hmm let’s delve in! ⁣

When we juice, we’re removing the fibre, so these are better consumed immediately once made before they begin to oxidize. ⁣ A great benefit to juicing is it provides a high concentration of vitamins and minerals and allows for better nutrient absorption. This is particularly great for people who are not a lover of the friendly green vegetable in its whole form! ⁣ To drink it alone or with food? There is a debate whether it’s actually better to drink juices on an empty stomach. The reason it’s suggested is that fruit absorbs into the blood steam quickly. If there is food already in your stomach, the juice will sit and start to ferment and will slow down the process. Thus, causing potential bowel and digestive irritation.🍐⁣ ⁣ A general rule is to have a green juice approx. 2 hours after eating and have a meal between 20-30mins of drinking one. 🍋⁣ ⁣ The sugar load! Be careful when purchasing or making a juice, as they can be found to contain more sugar than soda drinks and send your blood sugar to soar! Try and make sure your drink contains mostly vegetables. ⁣ And Smoothies? ⁣ ⁣Smoothies retain the fibre so can last in the fridge up to 3 days. ⁣ The fibre in smoothies also helps with digestion and fill full longer. By including a form of healthy fat, protein and fibre it will also help stabilise your blood sugar levels. Such as avocados, nuts and seeds, protein powders, superfoods powders; such as maca, chia and spirulina.
